Strayed is simply a great surprise all the way through. Horror attracts a smart cynicism that looks for dirt on the lens or a take from an actor on a bad day. That said, Strayed is largely flawless. It’s similar enough to the French wave or psychological horror films yet smart enough to not vary from it’s densely intelligent Russian film pedigree. Andrey Merzlikin is brilliant. He’s physical & bold & fearless. I can’t say any negative things about him. Find a way to see this film & tell others about. Add it on your Netflix que or whatever people do to see great films so they don’t slide into history unwatched.
